IAO RECERTIFICATION AND ORPTS CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
One credit will be awarded for each classroom hour.
DOS CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
Continuing education credit from the Department of State is pending.
A workbook is included in the cost of the course, however, the textbook, The Appraisal of Real Estate, Twelfth Edition (Appraisal Institute, 2001), must be purchased separately if you do not currently have access to one. An HP12C calculator (or equivalent) is required for this course.
A confirmation letter will be e-mailed to all registrants by January 6, 2019.
Eligible assessors and county directors who attend will receive basic/continuing education credit and reimbursement from ORPTS pursuant to their current rules and approval by the Department of Budget.

A check for the total amount due or completed voucher, ready for signature, must accompany the application.
The application should be filled out and mailed as soon as possible – class size is limited. All applications are expected to be submitted by January 11, 2019. Member status as of October 1, 2018, will be used to determine the appropriate fee.
Applicants who cancel on or before December 31, 2018, will receive a full refund. After December 31, 2018, there will be a cancellation fee of $75.00. No refunds after January 16, 2019 and for no shows.
ON SITE REGISTRATION
All students attending the course will be expected to register at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Monday, January 23, 2019, between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. The class will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning. Commuter registration will also occur on Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Application of the Three Approaches to Value Description – Course Description
This is an intermediate course of instruction that will build on assessors’ knowledge of basic appraisal procedures and the use of the three approaches to value. At the conclusion of this course, the student will understand and be able to apply the three approaches to value and reconcile the three approaches to value into a final value opinion. (This course is a requirement for assessors seeking basic certification from ORPTS.)
Instructor – Nathan T. Gabbert, FIAO, SRA
Nate has been actively involved in the property valuation profession since 1983 and has a wide range of experience with many property types. Nathan holds both the SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute and the IAO designation from the New York State Assessors’ Association. He is a NYS Certified General Appraiser. Nathan is currently the assessor for the Town of Henrietta, and he has been involved with and held leadership positions in the Appraisal Institute, the New York State Assessors’ Association, and the Monroe County Assessors’ Association. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Assessing Officers. Nathan is a certified instructor for the NYS Department of State for appraiser and real estate education courses and has developed numerous seminars for the NYSAA, the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors, and the Appraisal Institute. Additionally, he holds memberships in numerous trade associations involved in property valuation and property taxation issues.
