Qualifications Needed
|
• Prepare and defend valuations in small claims assessment review proceedings on behalf of municipalities.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of assessment rolls for multiple municipalities.
• Research and analyze local market data, comparable sales, and property records to ensure accurate valuations.
• Review Computer generated Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) for reasonableness.
• Make changes to CMA when necessary to provide an accurate estimate of market value.
• Conference cases on behalf of the municipality in an effort to dispose of pending small claims cases.
• Collaborate with municipal officials, attorneys, and staff to resolve assessment and valuation issues.

Certification Needed
|
• Prior appraisal or assessment experience specifically within Nassau and Suffolk Counties, NY is required.
• Knowledge of municipal assessment procedures and local market trends.
• Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines.
• NYS certification or license as a real estate appraiser/assessor preferred
